Misty autumn around castle Chojnik

October 7, 2016

Forest around the Chojnik castle in Sobieszów, Poland.
There is no such thing as a bed weather for photography.
I really like to photograph forests, mountains and generally nature when the weather is… let’s called it bad (for most people) – gloomy, rainy and misty 🙂

Enjoy the view! It was a beautiful morning…

Thousands of Poles in Poland and many cities across the world have gone on strike in protest against proposals for a new anti-abortion law.

Góry Sokole

September 24, 2016

A short summer walk in the Góry Sokole. I don’t think there is an English translation, but it literally means Falcon’s Mountains.
It is a very little mountain range, with the highest peak called Krzyżna Góra (Cross Mountain), 654 meters.
Góry Sokole and nearby Rudawy Janowicie are one of the most popular climbers spots in Poland, especially rock climbers.
Wanda Rutkiewicz started her climbing career on that rocks. She became the third woman, the first Pole, and the first European woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest. In 1986 she became the first woman to successfully climb and descend K2 (she has done it without oxygen!).

Babie lato

September 16, 2016

Babie lato is a polish name for a period of unseasonably warm, dry weather that sometimes occurs in early autumn. In North America it’s called Indian summer, Germans call it Altweibersommer or Spätsommer, in Sweden Brittsommar

All those shots I have taken just minutes away from the Wrocław Airport, in Bystrzyca Valley Landscape Park (Park Krajobrazowy Dolina Bystrzycy).

Śnieżne Kotły at sunset and just after…

September 14, 2016

Śnieżne Kotły, which translates as Snowy Pits are two glacial pits situated in the Karkonosze National Park, on the Polish side. It’s a very unique example of the alpine landscape in the Karkonosze Mountains and has been a nature reserve since 1933.

On the way to Snowy Pits you pass one of the oldest mountain shelter in the area, called „Pod Łabskim Szczytem”. Its history goes back to 17th century. Even in those days the electricity comes from generator and is available only for few hours a day 🙂

Come with me…

Bolesławiec Pottery Festival

August 31, 2016

Bolesławiec Pottery Festival takes place every August. This summer festival is very popular and brings many visitors from around the world. Everything happens at the Town Hall square and surrounding streets. You can buy ceramic goods, sculptures, traditional Polish food, take part in workshops, concerts and other events. The tradition of pottery making in the region of Bolesławiec goes back to 1380. There is also a flea market where you are able to get some old stuff like Nazi’s helmets, old guns, books etc. This year it was my second visit there, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be back there next year again 🙂
