South Australia

March 6, 2015

Driving trough South Australia’s back roads and little towns is a real fun. So many cool and beautiful places.
You never know what you will see around the next corner or hill.

Photos taken in Mintaro (population 226 people), Polish Hill River region, Clare Valley region.

Golden light & million stars hotel

February 24, 2015

Wake up in the morning, get to the airport, fly for a couple of hours, pick up a campervan and drive half a day.
All this to spend a night at the random Aussie cattle station, few hundreds kilometres north of Adelaide in South Australia.
Magical place and that night sky…

Evening colors at Bondi Beach

January 15, 2015

The most known beach in Australia and that evening definitely a place to be. Photos taken in July 2014, the middle of Australian winter.
It was amazing display of colours combined with stormy clouds and angry ocean.

Summer in Nielsen Park, Sydney

January 3, 2015

Nielsen Park is located at Vaucluse in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, less than 10km from the heart of City Business District. Park has it’s own beach called Shark Beach… with a shark net. Anyway there’s really nothing to worry about, the net give swimmers more peace of mind than protection. Glorious harbour views, big old fig trees, crystal clean water make it very picturesque place to relax. No wonder I’ve been there five times in last two weeks 😉

Sunrise is without a doubt my most favourite part of a day. Everything looks different, better, prettier. Even always busy Manly ferry – at this time almost empty.

Jindabyne Lake

April 29, 2014

Jindabyne Lake and it’s surroundings were spectacular. Especially as we arrived there for a sunset and woke up before sunrise next day. In between I managed to capture Milky Way on the sky above the lake.
It was the first time I could clearly see the galaxy with my naked eye – amazing experience!
Morning was really cold, -2°C! Yes, freezing in Australia.

On the way

April 25, 2014

Mount Kosciuszko is located 520 km from Sydney, approx. 6 hrs drive. The route leads through Goulburn,  Canberra, Cooma and Jindabyne. First part of the road from Sydney to Canberra is really boring, nothing interesting on the way. We stopped for an Easter lunch in Canberra – Polish style with sausages, pork pate, eggs and cakes! After the capital, scenery becomes more interesting. By Cooma you can tell you’re in the mountains. We stayed overnight in Jindabyne, which lays by the lake that shares the name with this little town. Water, mountains and autumn colors create spectacular views… so stay tuned for next post!

Autumn walk

April 23, 2014

I’m not a big fan of city parks, especially the big ones. I much more prefer natural bush lands, forests and Sydney have a lot of those! Anyway, sometimes (very rarely) I like to sleep longer and as winter approaching days are getting shorter so Centennial Park  is a perfect place to wander around. From where I live it’s only 30 minutes walk trough charming street and lanes of Woollahra and Paddington suburbs.

19th Biennale of Sydney

April 16, 2014

19th Biennale of Sydney.

Since 1973, an international festival of contemporary art, held every 2nd year. It’s the biggest contemporary visual arts event in the country.
Cockatoo Island is the main venue with the largest number of exhibitions. Located in Sydney Harbour, only few minutes by ferry from Circular Quay. The place itself is very interesting – prior to European settlement island was most likely used by the  indigenous Australian as an fishing base. Between 1839 and 1869 it was a prison, 1870-1880 used for an Industrial School for Girls and a reformatory, since 1890 shipbuilding and repair activities expand, in 1900 become the Naval Dockyard of the Royal Australian Navy. In 2010 Cockatoo Island has been added to UNESCO World Heritage List.
